The Black Knight Extrait de Parfum

A gothic, intense and sophisticated fragrance inspired by the historical figure Giovanni Dalle Bande Nere (John of the Black Bands), an Italian Renaissance condottiero (mercenary captain) who belonged to the illustrious Medici family.

I was captivated by this figure because of his stoic commitment to his cause, his loyalty and his Spartan lifestyle, despite his noble origins.

The fragrance seeks to capture the atmosphere of a military camp, beginning with the scent of wild bushes, followed by the smoke from the campfire and the smell of horses’ studs.

Then, the evolution delves deeper into the soul of this stern character, revealing the presence of a secret lover, with a powdery rose that rounds off the deep core of vetiver.

I did not add any typical animalic notes as the intensity of the vetiver, together with the smokiness of the leather, already achieved this.

I wanted to combine the uncompromising and human aspects of this fascinating character in a dark, medieval and meditative scent.
